Ich glaube es war ein trüber Tag, dieser 9. Dezember 1980, so ganz genau kann ich mich nicht mehr daran erinnern.

Ich war beim Frühstück. In der Küche hatte ich mir, wie jeden Morgen, meinen Platz vor dem Fenster mit dem Blick über meine Heimat ausgewählt. Das Radio spielte irgendwelchen Quatsch. Nachrichten, ich kann mich nicht mehr daran erinnern warum, aber ich weiß noch, dass ich aufmerksam zuhörte und dann diese Nachricht:

John Lennon ist tot
John Lennon wurde erschossen

Noch heute schießen mir beim Gedanken an diesen Morgen die Tränen in die Augen und ich kann es nicht fassen. Ausgerechnet er wird auf offener Straße einfach so erschossen.

Der Schultag war für die  Katz, allerdings war mein Deutsch- und Gemeinschaftskundelehrer damals genau so geschockt wie ich und viele von uns. Wir sprachen im Unterricht über das was Lennon bewegt hat, seine Musik, seine Philosophie die so einfach und doch so wertvoll ist. Wir dachten an „imagine“ an „give peace a chance“.

Er hat eine Generation verändert und damit die ganze Welt. Er hat einer ganzen Generation beigebracht wie wichtig Fantasie, Frieden und Liebe sind. Er hat viele Hymnen erdacht ob alleine oder mit seinem kongenialen Partner Paul McCartney.

Er starb auf den Straßen von New York gegen 22:50 Uhr.
In Deutschland war der Tag schon angebrochen es war gegen 4:50 Uhr…
